LAKE ISABELLA: There has continued to be a fair to good catfish bite at Engineer Point on frozen shad with most fish pan-sized up to four pounds. The odd good largemouth also continues to be caught, but not very many smaller fish are being landed. There is a fair trout bite at the auxiliary dam on nightcrawlers and floating dough baits. Other species are slow.

KERN RIVER: Trout action was pretty good this past weekend in the Kernville area after last week’s plant, which included some trophy fish up to six pounds or bette. David Kiel, Bakersfield, fished salmon eggs to get a limit of rainbow to 1-8, while Mike Soren, Bakersfield, also had a 1-8 trout top his limit. Plants in the lower river also went in last week and the action has been pretty decent in the Richbar and Hobo areas on salmon eggs and spinners. A few bass also are showing on nightcrawlers and plastics. The lower river sections and the Kernville area are tentatively scdeduled to be planted again next week. AQUEDUCT NEAR TAFT: The striped bass bite has been pretty fair this past week with a lot of quality fish over the 18-inch minimum size, and most of the bite has been on small swimbaits and blood worms or sand worms. Only a few cats showing.

BUENA VISTA LAKES: The trout action continues pretty good with a few quality fish still showing, and there was another plant last week. Best action has been on garlic nightcrawlers and PowerBait. The winter crappie bite fizzled, but there is still a pretty decent catfish bite.
